Where bonding stops, which platform it hits, and what the user sees.
GATT and protocol
Services, characteristics, and the places where the app and firmware talk past each other.
Reconnect
Drops, reconnect, and what happens in the background when the app is not in front.
OTA
The update flow under the conditions that actually occur in the field.
Next step
A finding with the smallest change that hits the fault. A rewrite is not the reflex.
First the trace, then the change.
Why Albrecht Apps?
The finding is yours
What we find stays with you.
Notes, the reading of the logs, and code changes belong to your team.
FindingProtocolRepositoryChanges
App and firmware in one look
You speak with someone who can read both sides. The fault is not passed back and forth between an app agency and the firmware supplier.
Field conditions count
A run on the bench often does not explain the customer case. We ask about the phone, distance, battery, the dropout, and the version that is actually out there.
A rewrite is an option, not the start
If one place in pairing or in the update is enough, we do not rebuild the app. Starting over is a proposal when the finding supports it.
Andrej Albrecht looks for faults where BLE products fail in the field: between the app, the firmware, and what the user can still see. The focus is Android, BLE, and architecture that can be maintained.

Work
When the app has to belong to the device
IndustrialAndroidDevice
Android app for an industrial product
Situation
An industrial product needed an app that carries the device state in operation. Unclear state between the app and the machine was the daily work, not a side topic.

Process
How we follow a BLE fault
01
Product Discovery Call
Which symptom, which phone, which device, and since when.
02
Narrow the trace
Pairing, GATT, reconnect, or OTA. Often it is a boundary, not “Bluetooth”.
03
Finding
What fails, under which condition, and what the smallest useful change is.
04
Change
The place in the app or the protocol that hits the case, with a way to reproduce it.
05
Check in the field
Not only on the bench. The case the customer sees has to be gone in a repeatable way.

A good fit is a team with a concrete failure that needs a finding before anyone rewrites the app.
What does the fault finding cost?
A focused look at a known dropout is a different job from a product whose link was never stable on several platforms. Without a symptom and a device, a number is only a guess.
On the Product Discovery Call we say whether an analysis is the next step and how tightly it can be scoped.
Is a call enough when the fault only shows up at a customer site?
The call decides where to look. Pairing, GATT, reconnect, and OTA leave different traces. After that we need logs, a device, or a capture from the field, not only the sentence “sometimes it fails”.
Do you rewrite the app as soon as something sticks?
No. The finding comes first. Extending, correcting one place in the protocol, or starting over are different steps. We do not propose the expensive path while a smaller one still fits.
Can you look at firmware and the app together?
Yes. Many faults sit on the boundary: the app asks differently from how the firmware answers, or the link drops because reconnect and background behavior do not match. We read both sides.
What about an update that fails on only some devices?
OTA faults are often a flow that stops under one condition: battery, link, version, or a drop in the middle of the transfer. We look for that condition instead of rebuilding the update by default.
Who owns what you find?
You do. The finding, the notes, and the code changes stay with your team. We can work in your repository.
What happens in the Product Discovery Call?
30 minutes, directly with Andrej. We clarify which symptom you see, on which devices, and whether a focused analysis is the next step.
The BLE link does not hold?
Place pairing, GATT, reconnect, and OTA in one conversation.
The connection holds in the lab. Then it does not.
The article shows where BLE fails between prototype and production: scan, dropouts, protocol. The newsletter follows with more on how to catch those problems earlier.
