When is a phased rollout safer than a big-bang connected product launch?

Direct answer

A phased rollout is safer when OTA, provisioning, or backend ingestion has limited real-world testing. Start with internal dogfood, then one geography, fleet, or SKU subset with rollback switches ready. Big-bang launches require green connectivity, update, and support telemetry together. For example, release a gateway OTA to 5 percent before touching every installed sensor network.
