Is a modular monolith enough for an IoT product backend at launch?
A modular monolith is usually the right launch shape for connected product backends because it ships faster and debugs more directly. Use clear modules for devices, users, telemetry, commands, and billing, then split only for real scale, team, or compliance pressure. Keep ingestion observable so a hot telemetry path can become a separate service later.
