How should GATT MTU negotiation behave in production BLE fleets?
Treat MTU negotiation as a required connection step, not a small optimization. Request a larger ATT MTU soon after connect, log the negotiated value by phone model and OS version, and keep GATT reads and writes chunk-safe when MTU stays at 23 bytes. For an OTA update, correlate slow firmware chunks with MTU and retry counts before blaming radio range.
