Is RSSI a reliable signal for BLE connection quality in production?
RSSI is useful for rough proximity during setup but is a weak predictor of throughput or disconnect rate after connection. Combine it with disconnect reasons, reconnection latency, ATT errors, and retry counters in telemetry. For a wall-mounted sensor, lab tests in a shielded box often show antenna placement problems that a signal bar would hide.
